Ahem!
Chosen following advice from your goodself and the Rowemeister!!😉
I have a PM17mk2KI and it has a lot of electrolytic caps same as the PM66.
Do these caps need to be bypassed if in the signal path?

You don't want electrolytic caps in the signal path. Replace with film caps.

Try swapping the input signal cap for a Black Gate N or even better a Mundorf MKP. This little mod makes a nice difference.

the input cap is an electroyltic, right?
Thanks AVR
I always make sure the uF of the cap on the amp input is a higher uF than the uF output of the cd player (assuming the cd cap has been changed for a non electrolytic).

I have some 3.3uF MKV (polypropylene in oil) I bought from Lee. They're great! Much better than the Black Gate AC I was previously enjoying in that amp.

I was going to change my BG N to Mundorf Supreme Silver/Gold same as the cd player but with moving house thats going to have to wait. I am tempted to swap the BG N for some Mundorf M Cap MKP as I fitted a pair in a Marantz CD6002 and they offered that little bit more everthing over the BG N.

would the mundorf silver/oil type work just as well?

Sounds expensive! 😉

isn't there some dc across those caps?
The caps are for stopping potential dc entering the amps input stage. As standard most devices use 2 electrolytic caps in series and reverse polarity to each other making it the same as a non polar.
