Marantz Cd63 - shorted channel?

This is almost my last resort - I rewired an interconnect and while screwing the casing back on twisted the hot onto the ground and unsurprisingly I think I've blown an output channel on my Marantz Cd63. I cant for the life of me find any info on how to diagnose or repair this fault - if anybody has any experience with this or has any views on whether it would simply be a better option to replace the player I would appreciate it. I was just about to start modding it so I'm currently a bit disapointed with myself.

In case it helps my level of electrical knowledge is basic and my system comprises a rotel pre with a perreaux pmf 1550 power, systemdek 990 speakers and a dual 1220Q with a shure v15. Cable is all homecooked silver/copper.

Which one? The outputs?
There was a link to the schematic a while ago. It's dead unfortunately. Some of us including me have the schematic, so if you could be more precise we can maybe help you out.
Do both channels work with your headphones?

It seems unlikely that shorting the output to ground would do any damage since this is exactly what the muting transistors do: series resistors prevent damage to the output stage. Have you tried another interconnect?

In the unlikely event that the output stage has been damaged the most you will have to do is replace an op-amp. I have seen muting transistors go short circuit, these can easily be removed there are ususally 2 per channel.
