In my CD53 I replaced CY01 (22n ceramic) by a 10u EL and the remote now pics signal from across the room.
If it works at close range... Do what I sugested.
I took a quick look on Charles Hyde & Son's site and they don't have them, but on an unrelated note - they do have CD63KI toroids - I thought those were hard to get? Sharing in case anyone's interested. CHS - replacement remote controls, instruction manuals, audio & video accessories, electronic components & spare parts
LOL @ £65 plus delivery, for the KI TX😱. Youd be better off keeping the std TX and buying 3 or 4 additional separate ones for less money. 1 for the drivers, 1 for the output stage and a couple for the 5v analogue and digital!!!🙄
Yeh ,that was the first thing that i check as well.
was thinking about that ribbon connect to the display board . The contact with IR side could be bad?

Yes Brent , i did check to make sure it is at the right position.
Has the receiver been disturbed? Probably worth stripping down the front panel and checking. Have you got another front panel you can try?
Easy to check the receiver, you have a 5v pin a gnd and an output pin. Find the output pin and with the multimeter set to dc point a remote (any remote) at the player and press a button. You should see a pulsing.

You can double check that your remote control is working properly by pressing the button while looking at it through a digital camera.
Help please, my meter has just packed up.
Does anyone know offhand the maximum ampage through Q871 in a CD67?

Marantz HDAM module
A question for Ray or Brent, if you have time for me.
I want to replace the Polypropylene capacitors of HDAM module with polystyrene or silver mica on my Marantz CD6003.
In the Schema the capacitor 707 is not connected. I can add it with an indicated value of 100p? I think this makes the circuit symmetric.
Here is the service manual
http://www.raylectronics.nl/index_en.html
DIY Flea and Discrete Output Stage-(DOS) is a little difficult for me, but one day I'll try.
My CDP is like a full tube of toothpaste! 😀

Hi,
I would not recommend to add C707, Marantz left it out for a reason. At first glance, the circuit seems more symmetrical with it, but they probably left it out because the NPN and PNP transistors they used have different properties, so one needs compensation and the other doesn't.

Ray

Thanks for the reply flash!
An 'other question, the less important but which may also be useful to others.
On the PSU dedicated to the DAC (CD6003) is not connected another capacitor (C926).
I think there could be improved a bit. MKS 0.1 μ. What do you recommend? I also have a black gate n 10μ, and two 1μ
I know that is not a forum on the CD6003, but all marantz's circuits are similar.
I also think that you could offer a fitting service at the request of your products. It would be much appreciated by your fans.
Why do you prefer polistyrene capacitors instead of the silver mica?
thanks again

We do a fitting service for the 6003 😉
I prefer Mica but Ray prefers Polystyrene (generally), of course this may differ from machine to machine and location on circuit

PSU for my DAC
Thanks Brent. I have to buy your PSU for my DAC Stripped down version.
I think it's great, you tell me What does it cost?
But do not buy it right away. My CDP now costs more than my car. (Renault 21 GTS 1986 I think)😀

the dac in the cd player
I already have on my CDP 1 Superreg Audiocom 5V (I also have their clocks very expensive!). I want to make only a dedicated PSU.
Regulated PSU is a little too much maybe. An unregulated PSU is enough, but I have hexfred diodes and capacitors available.
Then your PSU can help me.
The DAC of the CD6003 has 5V and 3.3 V regulators in cascade. So I thought of a PSU 9V 7 or 15VA for that rail.
What do you think?

Hi Guys
Just to let you know we have the new SPower 'D' out. This one is a discrete version offering lower noise and is suitable for 3.3v and 5v applications where low dropout is required.
Fidelity Audio : SPower low noise voltage regulators
Lee and Simon have heard the reg running recently!
cheers

Indeed I did! I didn't think a reg change from one "super" type to another would do so much. The bass weight increase was phenomenal and it sounded more open and relaxed. Seriously impressive that new reg, defo gonna have to get some when I get better employment!!!

Definitely an improvement over the original SPower.
Can't say I'd be looking forward to swapping them over in his player tho, lol.
