and soon, when you've completed more it will look a bit like this
or this
and then, it will just get worse and worse! You will feel the need to buy players just to mod! You will start modding for your friends, feel the need to build a DAC kit (eh Ray!!!) like this
your dining room table will look like this
and your living room like this
you may even make one of these for a squeezebox just to see.....
Trust me..........you're in too deep now!!!

now there's a welcome! been really really busy most of the latter part of this year (some may say about bloody time!) but I've been lurking from time to time.
Hopefully I'll get back to sorting a few bits and encouraging people along on here now things are settling a bit for me
😀😀😀😀

LOL. And I thought I was bad.
(Just re-building my cd63KI🙂)
I may look at using a different dac in this machine. Has anyone here done this before?

Not yet, i've not had a spare board to try it on. The dac is better than people give it credit imho. I would like the NPC dacs out of the SA-7S1, they sounded very similar.

Hey, I know that one! 😀
Are those four big caps Black Gates? I just bought two nice Obbligato output caps for it, let's see (or hear actually...) what that will bring. Is that plastic tray some new form of damping? 😉
Nice to see you're here, Ian!

Oh, and my lovely daughter just deleted some e-mail by slamming on the keyboard of my laptop 😀.
Could the guy (I think you were Polish) that inquired about some DOS boards mail me again if you are reading this? I'm afraid your mail got butchered 😀.

Thanks Ray!!
No those caps are Nichicon Fine Gold 5600uF. All the regs are commercial basic opamp feedback regs (Audiocom super reg 2's) except for the SAA7220 which has a std 317 in the pic here but now has a twin 317 tracking pre reg. The output stage is simply a pair of single Burson opamps with 2n2 and ???ohm feedback and dc blocking is via 4.7uF Ampohm wire wound. There's also a Trichord clock 4 with another supre reg 2 on it! The clocking is pretty good on this board too as you can get all the clock feeds direct from the divider chip (which would be better with its own reg too!!!) How are you getting on with yours?
And......you have your daughter at the computer already! how's she doing with the pink iron????😱
P.S you guys recomend any speakers? I'm leaning towards B&W (602, P4....)o
602, lovely speaker at £300. You'd have to take a battered set at £100 though. I used to have a series 2 set, very pleasant midrange and bass and ok treble. Only the treble lets down B&Ws (all of them it seems).
I have a question: In the cd63, is the interface between the decoder and dac i2s format?
I think it is, but I'm not sure.
oh, and I never much liked the treble from B&W either.
Lee.

Cheers Ian. It is good to see you active in audio again.
Dac datasheet says 2's Complement MSB First. Is that not i2s?
Cheers, Lee
Edit: You know why I'm asking this Ian, lol.
