Yep I guess that PCB is not the same. It's easy and quick to change it.
About laser unit, soundwise, VAM12 vs CDM12 and even old but working CDM12 vs brand new VAM12?

You don't need any dc blocking caps in the 63/67. The only noise you will hear is on power on/off where the +/- psu discharges. This is where you build a simple muting circuit to stops this happening.
Other than using caps like Mundorf Supreme or better you will always add colour or grain to your sound.

Do you need to change the value of R655,R656,R660 & R661 when replacing the dc blocking caps.I like to try blackgate N 47uf, please tell me the value of the resistors above.THANKS

No, you don't have to change them. They just provide a (dis)charge path for the output caps, in case you power-up the player without an amp connected.

THANK YOU! I ask because it seem to sound thin (bass is lacking)
Oh, that could be the Black Gates. They need about a zillion hours to burn in... 😀
Don't worry, the bass will probably come back in one or two weeks, depending on how many hours you play music every day.

So it's not because I lower the value (from 110 to 47uf)THANKS again
No, certainly not, at least not from a clear technical standpoint. You'd probably not get bass roll-off unless you reduced it by a factor of 10! Most people use about 4.7uF and have decent bass.
I have yet to find 4.7uF cause a problem on the Marantz output. 2.2uF causes bass roll off on some systems.

I used 4.7uf and the bass is good. Iv'e been told by many people not to go lower though. I removed the muting transistors in one cd63ki but could hear no improvement so I put them back.
I have been doing a few tweaks myself this week. I have made the psu for the dos pcb external and upped the raw +/- voltage psu from 30VA to 60VA.
The external psu has a 160VA transformer, HexFred diodes, Our own SI caps pre reg, +/- 20V SPower low noise voltage regs and Black Gate FK post reg.
The dos psu now uses 6x Spower in total.
The case can be seen better here - Fidelity Audio POWER SUPPLIES PAGE

An externally hosted image should be here but it was not working when we last tested it.

Looks naff Brent...
Ok, just kidding, looks MEGA really.
I hope you find my lowly system ok later 🙂

Cheers for that. I have the cd players transformer VA up to 272VA now + upped the SPower count to 25.
I've added the case pics above (obviously)
Looking forward to hearing your hard work Simon 😉

I think I may be able to beat you on the VA front, but I'm way down on super-regulators, quality smoothing caps, silver micas, fine wire and fine wine!!
There's probably 1600VA+ of transformers in my 2-channel setup now 🙂

Brent is this for the DOS alone? Good grief! Is it sort of an alternative to Steve's CFP? I'm demonstrating my ignorance...shame one me.
LOL at your VA Simon (amps included of course) and those old tda units do require some current. Should be a good listen tonight.
I think my VA on the integrated is only a small 600VA.

Hi Shep
Yes the PSU is just for the Dos. I have not done the CFP yet as I knew I would be doing this at some stage. Once i've run this in and am used to the sound changes I will then look at either fitting the new dos pcb or tweeking mine to implement the CFP + I want to look at clocking the decoder section by elimintaing phase issues when doing so

You could do if you like but there are loads more other things that can be done to your player, these would probably make the CFP upgrade more noticable when you get that done.
