They were running with SPowers and ZA 470uf capacitors for decoupling with HDAM removed and no dc blocking caps when you heard them.

I am using LME49720HA with Spowers in my Meridian preamp and it sounds really special.
IMO much better than the 4562.... better bass delineation and very well integrated trebble.

I love these opamps. Only last night I replaced the std opamps in a DAC I was playing with for LME49720HA. Immediately everything jumps out at you. As said, they can be lending towards bright until they run in. No decent regs on them yet but there will be! 🙂
On a side note, has anyone got a CS8412 or CS8414 that they dont need? I have one thats unwell ;-(

I'm having something like an existential crisis, having been informed by Brent that my 67' got badly bashed in shipment to him this time. I knew it could happen after so many trips, but I was hoping it wouldn't. I thought it was well packed but apparently someone ran a forklift into it or dropped it from several hundred feet. So as we speak I'm waiting to hear if it has internal damage. I sent it this time because the bloody laser stopped working (I think) I had a bad feeling... Brent's silence is ominous. I have a lot invested in this damn player so I hope it can be returned to it's rightfull glory.
I have a spare chassis and lid/front of CD53, maybe need repaint ( time to experiment ! ) if needed in case of external damages, let me know and it's yours.

It's not too bad. It's only had a small knock but it was made worse as there is no lid on the player. The lid gives strength to the back panel which has got bent where the mains input is. Front and pcb is all fine.

I got lucky it seems. A new laser mech will I guess be in the works. The moral is; leave well enough alone (famous last words!) New cosmetics are now more than ever the next step. I've asked this before but I'm still not sure why a nice thick glass top is bad...plexy is just too expensive.
