Sometimes I feel a bit inadequate...being basically dumb and a follower. About all I can contribute is enthusiasm for the results (and spread the gospel) , which are anything but self-evident and represent a lot of thinking and work. I especially appreciate Brent's spirit of self-sacrifice...although his accountant probably does a lot of teeth grinding! I'm chaffing at the bit to find out what further wonders my 67' will reveal. In the meantime, I think a set of those nice feet are in order. If anyone has some thoughts about casework to pretty up a naked Marantz, I would be attentive.

A braced player yours?
brace only on SE and KI's It runs accross the top of the player near the back. It makes the player chassis more rigid 🙂

I made a brace from an alloy tobe with a threaded rod inside and 2 nuts on the end.

............... more often than not I under charge which is good everyone except me 🙁 ...............
When I had my shop in Guildford, I found it was difficult to charge for some services as, in reality, if you did charge the correct amount, the customer would complain of a rip-off.
Better to charge less and have a satisfied customer spreading the word.
(Tell that to your accountant !)

63se does does not have a cross-bar....
As Andy said it should have!!! 😱
But then again according to all internet sources, my latest toy should have a S2 double crown but it aint!

Crazy... maybe there is a difference between the SE with the 'plastic golden plate' on the face. I have the "Special Edition" printed in golden ink directly on the face of the player.
I got the brace on 63 and 67 mkI with the gold painted "Special Edition" as opposed to the gold badge on the mkII's
I have a mk1 Special Edition, no brace... no signs that it used to be there either.
Maybe someone stole it. Does it make an audible difference?

No bull here but going from the days when the 63/67 was current until now I have seen easily over 1000 of these units.
I have never seen one 63SE 63KI 67SE 67OSE without a brace or chassis plate! All standard 63 63MKII 67 have no brace or no bottom chassis plate.
The gold badge units are the KI (except very early text style badges)

An extra metal bottom plate on the chassis, works with the brace to make the whole thing feel more expensive and I would think gives the impression of bass due to the weight.
