marantz cd6006 power supply issue

Right... and no bets that the player still doesn't work when its replaced.

Any reasonably high gain small signal type of transistor should be OK for that one. BC556, BC547 etc etc. Watch the pinouts.

This player absolutely 100% is showing all the signs of being what we call a 'lightning job' where random unrelated faults are fixed one after another and still there are issues.

Your big problem with this is that you will (probably) come to a point where you are looking and suspecting unique major parts like processors and system control IC's. If the rails from the large transformer are all OK (in other words once all supplies are up and running) then I think realistically you have to give this one up as a bad job 🙁

I've worked on many many items like this over the years and once you are at this level they tend to always be bad news. Fault after fault after fault. Even if you get lucky reliability can be very poor with new problems showing up later.

You're very welcome 🙂

Equipment with issues like this becomes totally non logical when trying to fault-find. You keep finding very definite individual faults and replace the failed parts only to find another issue, and then another in totally different areas of the circuit.

I think this was one that was destined not to work again 🙁
