That's too bad 🙁
Have you adjusted the two pots on the mainboard?
If you have it may be these that are preventing the disc from being read. If you haven't then it's worthwhile fitting the original cdm and trying again.
It would help us if you could describe what the laser head does when it tries to read a disc. The best way to observe this is to remove any disc and close the tray, move the disc clamp fully up and then power-up the player.
The normal startup sequence would be for the swing arm to move to the centre, the turntable motor should spin, the laser switch on, and then the objective lens should move up and down a couple of times as it tries to gain focus lock.

I have the original transport in it.
The behavior is as you describe, though I haven't checked if the laser lights up, will this be visible without looking down into the laser assembly?
Edit: Ah! the laser moves to the center of the disk and the motor spins a couple of times while the laser moves a little back an fro with it moving up & down to focus.
But! i see no lighting up of the laser 🙁

The laser light should be visible without too much difficulty. Try again in a darkened room.
Does the other cdm behave in the same way?

OK, I tried in a dark room and there is a red glow, I was apprehensive on looking directly down at the laser 😱

That's understandable.... Next time use your digital camera instead, it's quite good at seeing infrared light.😉
Happy new year.
