I noticed that there are three 5 volt LM7805 regulators in my Marantz CD-6000. I downloaded the schematic but am having a hard time understanding it in a sense. I understand that the two 5 volt regulators (which are attached to standing heatsinks) are for the Decoder and DAC chips. What I do not understand is what is the 3rd LM7805 (this is right behind the two on heatinks) is doing.
This voltage regulator is not heatsinked and is just standing freely on the circuit board. Is this regulator providing a "voltage reference" or is this powering a circuit such as the digital or optical outputs???????
Any ideas and/or help decribing what this part is doing would be greatly appreciated!

Wait a sec! Do I have this backwards??? I think from looking at the schematic again that the single un-heatsinked regulator is powering the chips and the other two are powering the optical or digitals outs???

Crazy_D,
Maybe we should see the circuit diagram to comment.
Where did you download the circuit diagram?
Cheers.
