I'll order more shrink tubing on Monday too, couldn't fit these today for lack of isolationmaterial for the leads:
47uF_400V_MKP_3.jpg

Just ordered the following, which should arrive during the week(Not just for the TPR).

Rubycon ZLH 470uF/16V 4pcs

Resistor 100R 3W 1pc (dummy load)
Resistor 2R7 0,4W 1% 2pcs
Resistor 120R 0,4W 1% 2pcs
Resistor 100R 0,4W 1% 2pcs
Ellyt cheap, not low esr(for TPR) 100uF/16V

Why would you want to ruin any CD player with installing - or for that matter using SPDIF ?? see: The Deficiencies of SPDIF as a Digital Transmission Method

Cheers / Chris

Like the sound of the modded TDA1541A/SAA7220P/B soo much I wanted the same sound from my main digital source, my PC.

But I'll build a DAC with the above IC's instead, so the question is now more or less obsolete.

Just took another look at my USB-dac and it's an ordinary coaxial digital out...is that the same as SPDIF?

I thought I'd use that "DAC" as a USB-Coaxial converter for the TDA1541A dac when it's done. I do have toslink out from my PC, but I'm unsure if the PCB I'll order accepts toslink.

The kits are excellent value for money. It will cost 2x the price if you try to source the components yourself. I ran mine off 2 transformers both 2x15vac) giving me the 4 rails. The regs will run fine even with a large voltage drop for the 5v stuff.

This one also looks interesting although the clock looks to be recovered from the SPDIF in this model. On the plus side the output stage is fully discrete!!

An externally hosted image should be here but it was not working when we last tested it.

I think there are a few threads on here about the 1st one. I think its refered to as the green dac?

The first kit, does it come complete w everything? The one I found from the same seller says:
Package Include
1. TDA1541A DAC DIY Kit (Stereo)
2. One TDA1541A, one SAA7220, one CS8414, and four NE5534
3. One adaptor board for CS8412/CS8414
4. Assembly Manual

Features
1. Use TDA1541/TDA1541A DAC, CS8412/CS8414(come with conversion PCB) receiver IC, and SAA7220 digital filter IC.
2. Output Opamps supports AD797/ NE5534/OPA627.
3. Input signal: Digital audio from CD player, e.g. S/PDIF
4. Output signal: Analog audio signal with high S/N ratio for pre amplifier or amplifier.
5. WIMA MKP capacitors, Nichicon Audio capacitors, and Dale resistors.
6. Built-in seven independent regulation circuits for dedicated power supply to each block.
7. Power requirements: one 9-12V AC, one 15V AC and two 18V AC
8. PCB thickness: 2.5mm and copper 2oz. Lead free

The second one, there's no clock onboard? Could it be upgraded w a vintage audio lab clock?

Might be cheaper to get these complete kits, but I think I can only afford the PCB for the first one atm...

A DIR9001 is available on an adapter.
Apparently blows away the CS 84.. series chips ( lower jitter )
Read the specs.

I've looked at green one and like the discrete output stage - very nice way of doing things plus.....no op amps - what a bonus !!.
Just eliminates another headache imo

Is the DIR9001PW a direct replacement for the CS8412(no other modifications needed)?
