Hi everyone,
I’m really pulling my hair out trying to find a signal to complete this calibration. My stand alone signal generator can only go as low as 50mv
Procedure from manual below.
I have the Arta software which I can get down to -60db and I also have a 20db attenuator. However the input is to low.
Or am I going about this all wrong. Can someone talk me through this, I’d really appreciate some help with this.
Cheers J

You can calibrate by using the LINE IN. The procedure is the same: feed 0 dBm 1kHz (775mV) to the input, adjust the level knob (on the cassette recorder) for the VU meter showing 0 dB, reduce the signal generator level by 20dB (on the generator), the rest is the same.
That’s awesome and just the pointer I needed. Thanks for this. You can calibrate by using the LINE IN. Just one more question: can any other procedure s in the manual that suggest using the headphone input be undertaken using the line in?
Make you wonder why the headphone input is specified.
Thanks again
I’ve nailed this with your help. Recording really well with the most suitable cassettes I’ve got (TDK cding 2) I’ve just calibrated it as type 1 without the chrome function and I’ve managed to get within the 1db +/- parametersI don't understand it either.
Cheers for the advice
