Hi,
I've got a 2385 and the "Tape 2" input doesn't work. "Tape 1" works fine though. Both are selected through push buttons. The buttons seem to work fine, but it would make sense to me that both shouldn't be able to be activated at the same time...is there some sort of override on button one that would supercede button 2? Perhaps it's not coming off? Idk, any Marantz experts here that can help?

Faulty User ?....
Both buttons in will usually cause switching of deck1 to deck 2 and monitoring of deck 2.....if no deck 1 output then no sound.

Tape 1 input works fine. Tape 2 input has no response, no matter the button configuration. Neither does the "Dubbing" input jack on the front.
Read The (Service) Manual....

A quick look at the block diagram shows that Tape 1 connects directly to the PS00 (tape copy, tape monitor) pcb.
Tape 2 connects to the dubbing inputs pcb PV00 and then to pcb PS00.
That might be the clue you need.
Regards, Dan.

Yep, PV00 plugs directly into PS00. PS00 plugs directly into P400. The last fellow who had it apart was a bit ham-handed and mashed the connectors on PV00. Not much room in the front where these boards go, and it's a pita trying to get them into place and plugged into each other. Fixed the connectors, reassembled it properly and everything's working again.
Thanks!
Thanks!
