marantz 1060 makes frying noise at power-up

Hi folks,
my 1060 was making a like-frying noise from inside for few seconds at power-up then everything was fine. Till yesterday when a defective AC socket caused the 1.5A fuse to blow up. Now I substituted the fuse but now the noise can be heard from speakers too, always only for few seconds at power-up.
I asked a pair of shop here for repair, but they look more as board-changer and they told me that is too old to get repaired.
Now, all caps and other components look ok from outside, any idea?

1060 in italy is always a problem!

Hi. seems that 1060 do not like spaghetti.
My 30 & more years old 1060 does the same and now it's in his box!
if you find the solution, I'll be happy too.
probably one day i'll take it out of the box and try to fix it .
buona fortuna

Hi pronto89,
NUTTTR is on the right track here. Bad switch contacts arcing. Replace the power switch and install an MOV across the transformer primary. I have seen bent PCB fuse holder contacts do the same thing. The MOV will extend the life of your power switch and protect your amp from voltage spikes.

Great!

Yes, it was the switch.
Substituted with a solid tin bridge and no more frying!
Now I'm going to Rome to find some replacement switch.
Hope to find it since I'm rather new to this town and I've no idea where to go.
Thanks for the solution.
