Hi,
Do any of you got any more specs for this driver. I know it is cheap and simple but I am planning to build multiroom and when they were selling stuff out I was able to get them for dirt cheap so bought a few and now want to build simple enclosure for them.
Just lacking the T-S parameters for the drivers. If I won't be able to find anything I can always just eyeball the box but any ideas/suggestions about parameters or box size would be helpful.
Cheers
Artur

A lot of Maplin stuff was badged "Prosound" or "Soundlab". There is currently a 70W 6.5" shielded on UK eBay under the Soundlab brand.
I think you may be better off running them in then testing them to establish T&S.

Maplin's demise is a slight disappointment. I quite liked the look of some of their £10 cheapies. The 8" midbass looked well made, on a par with Visaton drivers.
The great fear with these unspecified sort of drivers is that they are car parcel-shelf woofers with a high Qts.
For sure, about 20L is usually reasonable for a 6" midbass, and you can muck about with reflex and if it doesn't work nicely, stuff a sock in the port.
Isn't 1.8mH series and 6.8uF shunt what you usually do with a 6" bass for a 2.5kHz crossover? Have a go! And wait and see on the bass response. 😀

It's fairly easy to measure Thiele-Small parameters. If you're near Sheffield, give me a shout and I'd be happy to do it.

Yes, unfortunately no T/S parameters are given in my old Maplin catalogue.
If it's any help, I used the lower powered L70AW stablemates to very successfully replace the deteriorated drivers in a Beovox S35, which has a sealed volume of 22.2 litres.
However, the L70AWs had an Fs of 65Hz whereas your L71AWs have an Fs of 85Hz, so a similar outcome cannot be guaranteed.
