I'm slowly getting closer to my first build, which is going to be a MA Simple 2 way - https://www.diyaudio.com/forums/att...air-12pw-combination-simple-2way-a7pa12pw-pdf with a pair of Alpair 12pw's and a pair of MAOP 7's.
With some help from Stefan at KJFaudio here in the UK, and via him some help from Scottmoose with the plans I gather that the plans linked to are fine as they are, but I'm going to need help with some very basic stuff, such as stuffing/lining/wadding inside them, and also bracing.
I've seen the Pensil plans, so have some idea of what I'm trying to do with bracing but if anyone has built anything like these and can offer any hints or tips I'd be eternally grateful. How do I work out how many holes to cut, does it matter how big they are, and how they are spaced ? Is bracing just needed in the lower part (I guess so, just checking)
I don't even know what the various fluffy stuff inside a cabinet does, as in why line or not, why fluff up the stuffing, what does it do - ie does fluffier mean less bass, tighter bass. I've seen some mention of carpet tiles - what does that do that's different ? The plans say line all internal walls with suitable damping material - what is suitable and why ? Does this mean fluffy stuffy isn't needed, or is that something that I'm likely to need but is a 'tuning' aid ? Is this just for the lower section or does the area around the MAOP7 need stuffing as well ?
I'm asking here in part to save Stefan from too many questions, but also as I can't be the only newcomer to this forum who is rather overwhelmed by the length of the threads, the knowledge and wisdom that you all seem to have, so maybe any replies will help others who are wading through as much as possible, and if like me, with a totally non-technical background, struggling to take it all in !
