I have a Sony Dvp-ns999es player that is currently region 2. Since I may be moving to Asia soon, I'd like to make it region free.
I am aware this unit doesn't have s remote hack, like some other players do. But I do know of an infrared/"remote" hack, which uses an infrared transmitter to send a string of hex code to the unit that reconfigures it (or so the story goes)
Some companies (in the UK) seem to rent out remotest that will send such a code to the unit.
The following websites claim to provide such a service:

I think there may be a few others too.
Does anyone have experience with these or similar companies, or the technique that is used?
Can someone tell me how reliable these guys are and if the method really works?
