Making an active crossover

How could I go about making an a active crossover for bass and install it inside an amplifier and use a switch to toggle between full and sub woofer mode

Many years ago, I built a 3-way crossover for my car. I would not attempt to install it INSIDE your amplifier, there really isn't a lot of space there. The schematic was based on the one here: SB1980-3way

I borrowed power from one of the three amps, and it worked very well for several years, until I removed it to sell the car. You will need a separate amp for the subs.
 
An external crossover is inexpensive and probably a better option. Search ebay for the following text. It's an EQ with sub output and an equalizer. This is only one option but for less than $25 shipped, it's a good deal. You probably can't buy the parts to make a crossover for $25.
