Making a preamp?!

Anyways. Is it possible to make a preamp to power some small speakers for my car MP3 player?

Alright, well, I have a SoundBlaster Awe 64 in my MP3 player (It's just a computer in the trunk, more or less) and I want to be able to power some 'Sharp' speakers...I don't know how to explain them, but they are for a small stereo system...how would I go about that?

Check out http://sound.westhost.com/ it has some articles on relatively low powered amps (20w) and higher if you want as well as a puse to power them from in a car (although I've never built the car psu). Should give you an idea of what's involved.
