Making a fixed screen, what to buy?

After reading alot here and on the AVS forums, ive decided to go for a painted fixed screen, it will suit my room the best.

Ill buy some paint this weekend, but im still not entirely sure what paint to use.
I seem to read alot about using shades of grey, and also pearl. But also read people saying that the grey is good for rooms with ambient light.

Well my room can almost be blacked out, and i only really watch movies at night anyway. Is a grey screen stll going to be preferable?


And lastly, once i choose my paint, how should i apply it?
Is it best rolled on, and if so, with a furry or foam type roller, and how many coats.
And should be paint be matte, low sheen, or gloss?
