More info please, what is main use, hifi, home theater, what size driver, how low do you want to go, what type of box designe do you favour.

They have some 'EZ Sub' kits which are perfect for the beginner who has no wood working tools or experience.
If you do have woodworking experience they have half a dozen sub amps and the entire Adire line of sub drivers. Since your in Canada, you'll won't have to bother with customs. Also, they have a $1 shipping on Adire Shiva(12"), Tempest(15"), and a couple of their amps, as well as a few other subs.
I have ordered a few things from them and the service was great.

What I did and still do is read everything I can on the web about speaker design.
I made the mistake at the beginning of thinking I could design my own sub and speakers. Believe me, you cannot. Build a few designs from the web and you will notice that they all sound different and it will take some time to find out what you like.
For great knowledge read all of www.linkwitzlab.com and www.t-linespeakers.org
I have built many subs, but my current is a single from http://www.linkwitzlab.com/woofer3.htm crossed over with a pro audio crossover. I will eventually get the pcb's from the linkwitz site.
This sub is open, musical, detailed with no boom at all. Everything needed and it does do movies as well as music. It is small, easy to build and you will not get better sound.

One thing you need to determine
is which mid-range will you be mating it with.
For best integration you need one octave overlap _past_ the crossover point.
so if you intend to crossover at say 100 - the mid-range needs to be flat down to 50hz, which is something not a lot of mid-ranges will do - and you need to go an octave up on the sub, so for crossing over at 100 the sub needs to be flat up to 200, something a lot of subs won't do.
Another poster commented that it isn't easy to design a sub. That is true.
I will comment that it often isn't easy to integrate a sub well.
Your best bet is to get a game plan that will ensure good integration and buy a couple of any of the number of good kits out there..
