Mains transformer heat on wooden chassis

Hi
I'm building my amplifier with a wooden chassis, and am planning on laying the 400-0-400 mains transformer on its side directly on the chassis. I can't find any references as to how hot the transformer is likely to get in operation though. It will be in a well ventilated part of the enclosure, is it likely to get too hot to have directly contacting the wood?

It will be very fine in normal use.

Occasionally I have seen a transformer "burn up". Never flames (though it can happen). The peak temperature may be high enough to leave scorch-marks on wood.
