I have a pair of Magnepan 3.5 frames with mid/woofer panels. The crossovers and ribbons are gone. I was planning on building a 2 way speaker out of the mid/bass panels but it looks like that won't be happening anytime soon. The speakers worked well prior to the ribbons and crossovers being removed for a buddy's project. I haven't had the socks off, but I can see a bit of wire delamination through the socks.
Also included is a pair of new black socks that I purchased from Magnepan.
Asking $100 for the pair. The speakers are located in the Appleton Wisconsin area. They don't fit in my car and I don't have the packaging for them so you would have to pick them up.
Thanks for looking
Andrew

I just replaced both ribbon tweeter assemblies in my MG-IIIa (same tweeters in the MG-3X, MG-20X, MG-30X).
With replacement tweeter cores returned, new ribbon tweeters assemblies are $150 each + return ship ($50?). Without core returns, $500 each + ship... May need serial numbers to get order rolling...
This would be a killer speaker system, actively crossed over, with new tweeters, for $1100. Of course you need to re-glue the voice coil wires (completed in a couple hours max). A great DIY project that you cannot lose money...
I actually considered it myself, but a 4 - 5 hour drive... And just restored a pair of MG-IIIa with new tweets and re-glued all bass voice coils... I like the MG-IIIa look (Black Socks / Natural Oak rails) better than the MG-3.3/5/6/7 anyway!
Just need to decide to keep the Maggies or the Quads...(leaning towards my Quad ESL-2805)
