Are any of the tube magazines like Glass Audio, etc. available in pdf format anywhere for free? Would be handy to have them in electronic format. I have most of them in paper format so not interested in paying a second time.
Why not check out that great FREE American website RADIO and BROADCAST HISTORY library with thousands of books and magazines
What do you mean with that statement?
The complete topic of tubes is covered in those magazines from when it all started to the time when the industry switched to solid state.
Magazines like Glass Audio came decades later when it all was finished. They came years too late and therefore were punished by life itself. Original parts were obsolete and not so easy to obtain. So why not studying the originals rather than the copied circuits from people who came one generation after the rumble and tried to recreate (copy) it?

You are asking for free copyrighted material, which requires the permission of the owner.
If you have the hard copies, you can scan them for your own purposes.

Thanks Kevin, yes the only thing I found there is VTV but only about half of the issues actually load. I did find VTV here, if anyone is interested:
Vacuum Tube Valley Magazine Get the entire 20 magazine set for free! Article By Steven R. Rochlin
The "review" type magazines like High Fidelity and Stereo Review I'm not very interested. Mostly looking for Glass Audio and AudioXpress.

Fully agree. What do you mean with that statement?

That old magazine site is a TREASURE and deals with the real thing.
While "modern" magazines as sought deal with with illusion, Mojo and fairy dust.
i like what you said, JMFahey, now where is the "like Button"?
lots of magazines from the past are now available for free download, only time needs to be invested to harvest them and more time to chew on them..
and like you said, today there are lots of "illusion, Mojo and fairy dust" aka snake oils being peddled and lots of suckers buying into them...

I dont know about snake oil, but I can remember people standing in line waiting for the door to open to get TDK "SA" cassette tapes when they first came out in the 70's...
Joe, I remember being behind the counter when the doors opened..🙂
Years later our store did a deal with some local manufacturers that had bought remaindered end-run bulk reels of various tape types and had them made up into cheap and nasty cases....
Retailed under the 'SoundHog" brand... lol complete with a picture of a pig wearing headphones.
Price was knockdown and quality of the tape in each was totally random.
Staff got clever and would wind past the leader then compare tape colour and backing to commercial brands...I scored plenty of great cassettes for next to nothing.

Those two, the rights are owned and still well looked-after by the publisher who bought the AA empire when Ed Dell left us.
And that "american radio" site is now called World Radio History.
all articles of this magazine was saved in jpg files:

A tiny little problem for me: I do not understand the French language........😀

Do you have any articles covering your projects in any of those magazines?
Anything I've published is free from me for the asking. The publishers were given a one time permission only to use my stuff.😀
Yes, I knew Ed Dell for several years & corresponded with him regularly. When his magazines became webzines I lost interest.🙂
