Round 2 using Proview PL456s

I completed my first DIY projector using a Samsung 15" LCD monitor (530TFT) and a Dukane 663 OHP around 3 weeks ago. The results were quite good. The Samsung Panel was not a single connect to the display, so I had a rogue circuit board covering a small portion of the screen. Since the 15" display is a little large for my 10.4" stage on the OHP, it was okay.

The monitor has a 50ms response time. Kind o f slow, but it looks good for videos and DVD. I've been using it quite a bit playing UT2004. The lag is not that noticeable during game play because I am so absorbed by the enormosity of the 6.5' display.

My next phase is using the PL456s. It will fit perfectly on the stage and from the previous posts, it seems that disassembly will be easy. I picked one up for $149 with rebate from PC-Club.

I bought some screen material from b-adeals.com. It is a stretchable material. I had loops put in on the top and bottom and use wooden dowls to stretch it. It works great. I have some extra material that I am going to put on EBay when I get motivated.

Thanks for the info, Doughboy. How did you attach the glass for the stage after cutting out the plastic above the fresnal or did you leave the glass off?

I did make some changes today. I cut some styrofoam into strips and covered these with duct tape. I taped these around the base of the metal frame to cut down the light escaping around the openings. I made a cutout in the rear styrofoam surround to accomodate the blower fan. The electroncs were moved into a little box so things look a little less kludgy.
