here's the link to it at best buy.

http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage...tab=1&type=product&productCategoryId=cat01009

I was in the store and was looking at it. It said 300:1 there too. I picked up the box, but for some reason, the bright idea to look and see if the box had any specs on it totally escaped me.

Maybe I'll call them today or something. Also, I was thinking that in the store they were approx $175, not $250 - $50 rebate like the site says

Either which way, that still puts it below $200. It's not the greatest specs in the world, but it's cheap, and easy to get.

good or bad?

are you saying 14" is a good thing or a bad thing?

It seems to me that if the 15" screens are just barely larger than the fresnels that are readily available, that a 14" would be the way to go... you're not giving up too much size difference, but you're gaining the ease of using the inexpensive fresnels.

Since the price between 14" and 15" isn't much on most any model/manuf I would buy the 15 if I were putting it on my desk, but I had planned to buy the 14 if I was going to put it on a $6.50 fresnel from surplus shed or one of diylabs fresnels.

with the smaller screen to start with, that's just that much more distance you can put between your projector and wall too... Ace_3000 is using a 7" isn't he?

The Mag LT456S is a relabeled Proview PL456s, specs here.

Unimpressive refresh rate for the gaming fanatic (50ms) but totally adequate as a secondary monitor or Web / text work.

The "Black Friday" price for the unit was $249, but after all the rebates your end price would have been $99. Not bad at all.

disassembly

went and picked up the mag 14" today from best buy...

single-edge ribbon
total time to disassemble less than 2 hours

from a totally noob perspective; very easy to work on/ in, reasonably inexpensive LCD for the first-time DIY'er (like me)

it's late, i'll post some pics tomorrow

cheers,

greg

So how'd it go vudutek?

I'm now considering actually getting one. I was planning to buy Sir_Vivals setup that he was advertising, but he backed out on me.

Are you gonna post pictures of the things gutz? Have you tried putting it to use yet?

These specs would be a large improvement over my qa 1650

As to response time - I've read under 25 ms or thereabouts is best. Above was mentioned 50 was not good for "gamers"

What about video? I am happy with the 1650 - I hardly ever notice any video problems. The contrast ratio and resolution are my main concerns. I never intend to use it for gaming, desktop stuff, etc. Strictly for viewing dvds and television. Is this response time sufficient?

The OHP is definitely the easier route for a first pj. I've got an old 400 MH and ballast that i'm gonna build into an enclosure, so it'll be a while before i have some results to post. Let me/ us know how you decide to set yours up and how it looks.

Cheers,

Greg
