Not yet, Specs still seem good to me and it would fully fit on a OHP so I suspect I will try it, once I get the cash of course so Untill then I guess Im the only one, So yea I will try it eventually Unless I see a drastic drop in 15" monitors or a drastic increase in specs for them.
Just picked up a 14" TFT on ebay
I recently won a 14" Panaflat LC40 TFT monitor on ebay for £16 GBP. The screen has a a deep scratch about 1 inch long but it doesn't seem to have damaged the LCD inside.
It is XGA, with 50ms response and a typical CR of 120:1.
Fairly basic spec, but better than my powerview 820 (except the PV is 25ms), and it might provide good dismantling practice before I really spend some cash on this project.

I have a few spare laptop PSU's, and one that suits the 14V 3.3A requirement of the monitor perfectly - but the barrel jack is too small. Norcent LCD:
I recently got this panel under the impression that it had a contrast ratio of 300:1. It has a CR of 250:1 as other members have noted but i decided to use this panel despite this discrepency.
The Great Stuff
The LCD is very easy to dismantle and modify. The cable which connects the controller to the LCD is composed of 10 high gauge wires (~26AWG) which use a connector reminiscent of the connections used on a motherboard to connect LEDs, reset switches and so forth. The controller can possibly be used on other LCDs. A four pin connector has "grnd, rx, tx, 5V" silkscreened on the board next to it. Using a serial utility it could be possible to enable the NTSC feature of the controller after modifying the controller with the appropriate video socket. Browsing the OSD indicates that NTSC is supported by the controller but has been disabled. The main controller has a small daugherboard roughly 1.5x2.5" (with the main board being rougtly 4x4") which connects to the afformentioned LCD connector. Changing the daughterboard will allow for different types of LCDs to be connected.
The Not so Great Stuff
There is a design fault with the monitor. Within the construction of the monitor the daughtercard is forcibly bent by space constrictions. This fault failed the first monitor i had making be send it back. Upon receipt and two days usage of the second monitor, a pink color was subsituted for some gray colors (exceptionaly annoying). I was able to rectify the situation by right the daughtercard
Conclusion
This a good monitor if you want the controller and an LCD to experiment with. It could be chancy if you buy one of these but i've had success. I could get pictures of the controller/LCD if anyone wants.

one more vote to see pictures, this looks like an OK test subject, Now that I have a screen and acceptable lighting,I find my 640X480 panel isnt doing it for me, Ineed more res 🙂

Mobius Humm so did you have to lengthen a cable or not? hard to tell from the pics, On the camera situation get a cheap one from ebay 30 bucks or so Mine is a crappy one about 35.00 and you can see from my posts that it works well. Keep posting Info we are still all interested.
I have a feeling this will work...but my only concern is the CR:1 i would much rather have a 450:1 🙁

negative I was going to but someone said walmart.com IS Out of stock bahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh and no pother place online still carries it I will keep checking walmart and look for a alternative maybe.

Yea I cant wait to see pics also, LOL I made the thread But am not the person whom bought the lcd yet( ironic) anyways they want like 34.00 to ship that monitor, am i Just outa the loop or does it really cost that much to ship a monitor? geese 34.00 could feed a whole family of 6 at mcdonalds LOL

No, in my design it was not necessary. If you should have to lengthen the cable it would be excessively easy seeing as it is not a flex cable.

I'm going to take the LCD/controller to work tommorow and take pics of them. They have a really sweet Sony Mavica which should produce superior image quality.
