Shameless self bump. Does it only take a +/-30 transformer or will I need some sort of regulator circuit? It comes with no schematic and I need to know which transformer I should get for it to get 100W into 4ohm out of it. Thanks for any comment.

As a general guide you can select transformer from +- 35vdc (producing 70 wrms/8 ohms) to +-58v (135 wrms/8ohms) 3amp per channel.

have you got a schematic for this amp? this type of amp usually runs on +/-50 Volt supplies, pointing to a 35 0 35 Volt RMS secondary for the transformer. @500VA

And I thought I just posted what the manufacturer recommend for transformer?
But, it cames with no paper documentation. Manufacturer emails a text only instruction manual for assembly and testing. No schematic at all. He does reply to emails in one or two days though.

I was thinking building it dual mono and going with twin 2x45V 2.25A 220VA toroidal transformers and the outputs connected in parallel giving 4.5A. But, my investigation continues. Any suggestions are welcome.

Will going full mono give a noticeable advantage? Some printer have high amper dc transformers, will they do?

1. how did you wire the primaries and secondaries?
2. have you had any problems starting the 2 300VA transformers, ie. blown fuses?
3. and did you install a soft start or NTC resistors or something to aid?

I used 4 ultrafast diodes in bridge mode followed by 4 x 10.000uf caps. The transformers are center tapped. For the inrush current i used 01 x CL 60 THERMISTOR at primary of the transformers and a fuse for shure. A basic but very good ps.

Let me understand, what you call a 2x35vac transformer actually has 4 outputs, 2 +35 you connect in parallel and 2 -35? How do you calculate the duration of the high amperage during start up to know if the limiter is needed?

BTW. I bought 8 Panasonic 63V 10000uF caps for twin power supplies from H/D AMP with my kits. He also provided me the diode bridges. I have planned to install a soft start unit which has NTC resistors and a relay to bypass them.

To my understanding if you have about 550VA or bigger transformer you might start to see fuse failures and you will need a solution to control inrush current. I bought 4 10mF caps with the H/D AMP kit for twin PS, with 2 rectifiers (I assume they include only the diodes). I wanted to calculate the duration the current will be above the fuse limit but I have to know the resistance first.
hcbonfim, I was zooming at your pics as closely as I can. Difficult to see but to me it looks like the tranformer secondaries are connected in series?
Hi Tony my psu is the same you posted on link above, the 2 secondaries are joinned by a center tap, and this is the GND (reference).
