LYNX Amplifier question

Lynx

Hi,

First of all, I have told Jan that there is a question regardig the lynx amp out here on diy.

The transistors you want to use are rated for 120 Vce, this means that voltages above this will cause the transistor to fail, or in worst case breake down.

If you want to run the amp at +-60V I suggest you use transistors rated at no less than 200V 15A. These could be the 3281/1302 pair or their newer substitutes 1943/5200

Hope this helps you

\Jens

from where i`m form you can`t fiind good bipolars only fakes so it is very hard for me to go for a 200V rated device . I have seen MJ15003/4 amps going on +/-68V that`s 136V they are 140V . With my transformer +/-60V no load i can get about +/-58V .....🙁 soo ... there is a good chance it will work safe .... hope so. ...

:xeye:

Okay so i have only found ON MJ15022 rated at 200V , 250W

MY question is can i use only the MJ15022 NPN of course you would have to tell me what mods to do !! :smash:

How much will this affect the sound quality of the amplifier ? 🙄

Of course i would put both npn and pnp predrivers and predrivers , i was only going to put NPN`s on the output without PNP`s .:xeye:

This amplifier`can NOT work with only NPN's or PNP's in the output stage!!!!!

My best advise to you is to drop the idea of building an amp like the LYNX (or similar), and then go for a SUMO, AMCRON/CROWN or QSC design using only NPN's in the output.

Thanks for your interest in the LYNX amplifier!

I have built the LYNX amplifier and it doesn`t work with darlingtons ! 🙁
The sound is full of distorsions !
If i put the MJE15xxx drivers the sound is better but still full of distorsions !
The amp works perfectly well as a amp 40W (R118/119=0.22ohm)
and giving 40W without distorsion !
Can you give me a complete modified schematic(in PAINT) to use with power darlingtons ?
