Powered up my Luxman T-2 tuner after many years sitting idle. FM works perfectly, but AM reception is gravelly, distorted, and only comes on after brief warmup. Last time I used the tuner, AM was perfect.
Now I've never worked on a tuner, but my gut feel is its an electrolytic capacitor gone bad with age somewhere. Any hints on where to start?

I re-ecapped a Reader's Digest FM/AM radio (197? great sensitivity & an inheritance) without any alighnment. Worked great except I could never get the tuner string back on.
Start with any .47 uf, 1 uf or 2.2 uf electrolytics. I used ceramic.

Check the AM antenna connections first. And don't touch the tuning string.
Then check the power supply voltages in the AM section.
