Luxman D-105u transport problem when ejecting

I recently found a Luxman D-105u dumped during a rubbish collection and it wasn't working. I replaced a leaky cap (and the rest of the caps in the psu) and a corroded zener diode and got it working again.

However, there is a problem with the transport mechanism when ejecting the CD. The belt is fine (i replaced it), but the actual mechanism that moves the laser back and forwards makes a brief clicking noise against the stop when ejecting. It is not the laser making the noise, it reads CD's perfectly.

I have disassembled the transport from the unit body and can observe the drive motor engaging against the plastic cogs (making the clicking noise). There is no wear at the moment on the gear drive, but I would like to stop this problem to I can prevent cog wear.

To illustrate the problem, I made a video. http://youtu.be/q-VaM0YXU7E

I was thinking it could be one of the micro switches on the tray or the micro switch on the laser transport mechanism itself, I have cleaned / flushed it with deoxit but the problem persists. I cannot find any part numbers for the transport mechanism in the D-105u service manual on hifiengine.

Any suggestions for the source of the problem?

Just some general pointers...

I would check that all the mechanisms micro switches (there could be 3 or more, tray in, tray out and mech rest position) actually switch cleanly by looking at the appropriate inputs on the system control/uprocessor. That really means using a scope to check. Also check the basics such as rail voltages. Don't assume they will be OK. Scope them as well as measuring on a DVM. Faults like this usually have a simply cause.
