Well I guess we were all young once... I knew a supplier, who was a phsycology student... he was adamant that it has no physical effect on the body, claiming that a beer is more toxic...

Be that as it may, I have seen my fair share of houses drifting down the street, oh and a 3m high dog dragging his owner down the street on a leash...and much much more... it realy is the smartest and dumbest you can be at the same time...

I suppose I should have said not to try this at home.

None of it was said as a recomendation, there are people who will flip out for good on grass, booze or any other lovely substance.

These are the variety we get in the UK, they make you smile just looking at them!

Hello again all, I did a little research myself, and the general consensus seems to be that amanita muscaria is not as poisonous as I'd been led to believe. I still think caution would be the best approach to doing them however.

Visually I think they are a thing of great beauty, they do make you smile just looking at them.

Theres an area of woodland close by that is packed with them come the right time of year. If I have time I will mooch over and just go shroom spotting for a bit, it's surprisingly relaxing just being surrounded by them.

Remember kids, just say no.

tried acid once, big fireworks display with about 20 close friends, very nice. Then got stuck by myself for 2 hours in a traffic jam coming down afterward. Very not nice. I'm old and responsible now, I think twice about taking paracetemol.

A babysitter is required if you decive to mess with that stuff, chasing a butterfly into traffic is a distinct possibility.

Stay away from E, too much permanently alters your brain chemistry in a bad way and most of it is very poor quality and can contain just about anything. Usually anything but MDMA. Nothing ruins a night out like the inability to stand along with a bad ketamine trip. Seriously dangerous stuff.

In my country they are getting very strict on tobacco smoking laws, and they have just dramatically increased the tax on pre-mixed drinks such as bourbon and cola in a can, Alco-pops etc. Supposedly to counter binge drinking. I think it's to recover lost revenue because less people are smoking (huge tax on tobacco products).
I imagine our children will be talking like this one day about beer and wine.

We've had a smoking ban in the UK for a while now and pubs are closing like you wouldn't believe. Every pub that closes down means space to build another 30 shoebox flats that nobody wants to live in.

That, and if you stop people meeting up there's no exchange of news other than what we are fed via the idiot lantern.

Pre the ban all the aggressive drunks were in the pub with all the other aggresive drunks. Now they are 4 deep outside every pub doorway harrasing passers by and covering the pavements in cig butts.

Also the smoke in the pubs used to mask what a busy pub smells like, now it's all armpits and stale beery carpets, lovely.

When you tax the retail side of a product market to pay for social programs, the projected revenue usually does not take into account those people who will stop using the product because it costs more, resulting in reduced overall revenue from the projected. Does that mean they will cut those social spending programs because of a shortage of revenue? No, usually the under funded programs are used as justification for new taxes in some form or the other. It's the same over here too my friend, the insanity encapsulates us all. Your programs come in under budget? Just raise the cost of living for everyone.:whazzat: The question is, is the air contaminated with a bit of second hand tobacco smoke that much more toxic than the air in a typical metropolitan area? OTOH, nothing works faster as a bug repellant than the smoke from a large stogie.:dodgy: If the justification for the laws is air quality, there maybe could be an argument made for a lot of places in this world.

Paracetamol will kill you just as well. It poisons the liver. Overdose on enough Panadol tablets and you will need a liver transplant to save your life.

I learnt this recently at a first aid course from the instructor who has had, working as a paramedic, dealings with people who have fallen ill after attempting suicide by eating all their headache tablets.

John, A boiler maker is a beer with a shot of rye whisky in it. A variation is the depth charge in which you drop the whole shotglass into the mug. Due to the different specific gravitys of the two liquids, you get an undiluted hit of rye when you get to the bottom of your mug................YUMM!

That sounds like something that would sneak up and bite you in a rather short time!

I haven't much experience of shots, the nearest I came was in a bar on the Greek Island of Kefalonia. The bar owners there seem to have a better profit margin than they do here so if you are drinking steadily they can afford to give you a couple of free shots to keep you in there.

I went from being fine sipping my Mythos (nice Greek beer) to being stark naked bobbing up and down in the sea at 4AM without too much problem at all. I'm not much of a swimmer and wouldn't have dreamt of night swimming without the influence of a few doses of several spirits all mixed up and served in a test tube like thing!

Ahh, Good times.........Good times! I wonder if Keith Richards was drinking boiler makers when he fell out of that cocconut tree last year!

I bet you could pour them down Keith Richards till your arm hurt without too much noticeable effect. He's another one that defies the "drugs kill" mantra. Granted he used to do things like having his blood changed before and during tours which is a bit extreme in anyones book, but he's still here.

I found another Fly photo, this one being a young one just emerging. As it grows the white outer skin splits forming the spotty bits.

Aye, they were taken in Royden Park by Thors Stone

http://www.bbc.co.uk/liverpool/walk_through_time/05.shtml

This area has links with the Vikings so a lot of things belong to Thor, Odin and others. Theres been a DNA project going on to research the Viking links and find out who came from where and when.....

http://www.nottingham.ac.uk/~sczsteve/survey.htm

That's what I like about this forum, LSD to Shrooms to booze to booze recipes to Vikings and probably back again.

Back to the subject of people drinking who shouldn't have, we had an ex footballer called George Best who was a prolific drinker. He had a high profile liver transplant and then carried on drinking himself to death afterwards.

There's nowt as queer as folk as the saying goes.

One more digression wont hurt then. They were taken with an old Fuji FinePix, a 4900 Zoom I think. We've had it for nigh on 10 years and it's paid for itself, the computers and probably enough boilermakers to drown a boilermaker in that time.

It has taken countless shots that were a bit blurry or out of focus and I haven't had to pay for developing to find that out. I love digital cameras but I'm the first to admit that a 35mm SLR will destroy them on so many levels. I had a Canon EOS SLR that I bought 5th hand to learn with. The colours are better with film and it doesn't have that 1.5 second delay between pressing the shutter release and the shot being taken. Also the digital struggles with bright sunshine, not a frequent problem in the UK but a bugger when somewhere nice.

As I say it's a dinosaur 2.4 Megapixel but it does have a large Zeiss lens, goes from wide angle to telephoto and macro so it's very versatile and I guess the issues could be mostly sorted out with use of a tripod and attention to the white balance settings.
