I'm sure this is somewhere in the PC but not sure what the cause is. Every so often, not all the time, I'll get a noise that sounds like a bad place on an LP through the speakers. It even duplicates itself just like it was a LP spinning and hitting the same bad spot on every rotation. The noise itself even sounds the same. Kinda static-esc. It's like a vinylizer plug-in that has run amuk!! Anyone have an idea?????
My 2cents guess is your PC cannot keep up with latency of your playback chain and data non-deliveries to your card occur. If you only playback music, try to increase the latency, if it helpds. If you need low latency for recording/mastering, a more detailed investigation should ensue.
Could be lots of things. If I keep my cell phone near my powered computer speakers, I get some strange clicks at random times, even when not getting a call. Power fluctuations can do it too.
Still no joy. Cell phone isn't it. It's definitely in the box. The card is a M-Audio 2496 and haven't had problems till recently. I'm beginning to think it may be some other software running in the background causing the problem.
