I need to have a lower output on my satellite reciever,it has an optical output,

Several methods:
1. use digital volume control before converting to optical in source
2. use digital volume control after converting back to digital in receiver
3. use analogue volume control after DAC

well it is a Crossover/dsp that gets to much signal from my Sattelite reciever.So I guess I could use a digital volume control in between.But don´t know what to use..
check your receiver manual, often depending on the source, the volume gets bumped up do to various conversions formats. 5.1> stereo pcm
besides it might be good to keep a hot signal till the last stage of gain ( keeping S/N higher) .

I don't understand what you mean by 'too much signal'. Too loud is simply a volume control matter. If the crossover cannot handle the digital signal then it is faulty or badly designed.
Yes I know but it´s getting to much for the DSP I get dist in the bass.
And I cant lower it more in the dsp,If I play music from my PC I can lower the music so it plays fine,it´s just the Sattelite........
If your system cannot cope with a full scale digital signal then it is faulty, either in construction or design. There is nothing you can easily do to the optical feed to change this.

sounds like "DSP" is at fault here, haha
TIP use the satellite output to set 0dB =FS before heavy EQ and make sure you don't cross the line after EQ is applied.
