low pass slope for subwoofer

Hi Folks,
....kind of a newbie question regarding crossover (low pass only) for a subwoofer: If I were to run a small full range 4"TB in a relatively small folded TL cabinet and plan to run them full range with help from a sub (and I've chosen 110hz in a PLLXO for the low pass freq), what would you recommend for slope? i.e., 1st order 6b, 2nd order 12bd and so forth....
Thanks,
Mario

Hi,

With a 1st order high pass on the mains, if they are small TL's you are still
going to get get an acoustic roll-off that is 5th order acoustic eventually,
though it may in the crossover region approximate to a lower order.

Most subs have 12dB 2nd order Linkwitz/Riley acoustic roll offs, so a good
point to aim at is out of phase electrically, and ~ L/R 2nd order acoustically
on the mains, i.e. 90 degrees phase shift acoustically at the -6dB downpoint.
Add the sub with 90 degrees at the same point you end up with 180 degrees,
with is why you need to wire them out of phase, to be in phase.

rgds, sreten.
