A mystery speaker? Fascinating.
Any further clues?
Indeed, there are, over here:

It's an Antec Lansing dual-coil 6ohm subwoofer. I've looked for its specs, but without success so far. I thought it'd be fun to use my spare parts, make a simple low-pass for it and use it in the office.
When I figure out the needed frequency, I'll make a proper active filter for them.
For a subwoofer you usually strife for a crossing frequency at or below 100 Hz and a steep roll-off like 18 or 24 dB/octave.
You sometimes find subwoofers that are crossed over at much higher frequencies and roll off much shallower. The disadvantage is that the woofer can then be located as a separate sound source which affects stereo imaging. The advantage is that it fills up the frequency range that cannot be covered well by the satellites.
