Low noise BJTs for sale: Toshiba 2SC2240 GR + 2SC2240 BL and NEC 2SA991

Fock ...Too bad I didn't stumble on this thread before. I used these and 970 to fix a preamp and now will have to do it again meh ! And I do have t genuine 1845/992 Fairchild transistors.

The 2SC2240 you have on the left side seems authentic to me. Check the flat side on top, if there's a line about 2 mm long right in the middle,
I'm pretty sure it's genuine. I'm not sure about the one on the right, never seen printed markings like that before.

Genuine 2SC2240 (engraved and printed marking) should look like this:

In my nearly 40 years of experience with transistors, I've noticed that Toshiba TO-92 always have the same physical shape. Whether they're BJTs, JFETs, or even MOSFETs. Whether the markings are engraved or printed, the physical shape remains consistent.

They have the physical characteristics like this: (Thanks to punkydawgs for the pic)
