I suppose this is part of the UKs politicians solution to de-regulation in action.

Lot's of middlemen and all expect to make a profit and all the shareholders expect a return.
The TOTAL profits and shareholder returns of the dozens of companies involved in the generation, transmission, distribution and sale of electricity are enormous.
That money comes out of the pockets of the customers.
