The TOTAL profits and shareholder returns of the dozens of companies involved in the generation, transmission, distribution and sale of electricity are enormous.
That money comes out of the pockets of the customers.

I will do, but I joined EON because they were cheaper than my previous supplier, who for two years were the cheapest.You perhaps need to shop around.
