I have to optimize the CNC workflow, there are still some problems with the precision (not a problem of the CNC machine, but with the clamping).

Nice work. You should consider using a high density (700kg/m3+) modelling board instead of laminations of MDF. You'll get a better finish for this sort of thing.

Volume is about 3 liters which is a bit too small for the Omnes MW5. I will use an active crossover (MiniDSP) and use the equalizer to correct this. The low frequency cutoff frequency will be somewhere between 80 and 120 Hz, depending on the amount of equalization. The driver should work up to about 2.5-3kHz.

The tweeter in itself is interesting. However, it would not mate very well with the Omnes 5", which starts to beam around 1KHz. So you will see a very pronounced jump in the directivity at the cross-over freq., say around 3KHz.
A 4" mid or even a 3" and a tweeter that can be crossed very low would yield a much smoother off-axis response, which is very important.
In the other forum you said it is a project for fun. But I see it is a lot of work and maybe it is worthwhile to re-think the design approach ?

3 and 4" woofers are not possible in this housing. Therefore I have to stick with the Omnes. However if there are recommandations for a tweeter that could work from 1.5kHz, this would be an option. One critical point is the size. The diameter of the whole tweeter should not exceed 5cm (smaller is better). There is a nice tweeter from Scan Speak. Unfortunately is is very expensive. I still have some small Dayton tweeter somewhere. I have to check what crossover frequency would be possible with these.

Hmm, didn't think about a small FR driver, but that might be an option. The Visaton BF32 could be an interesting candidate.
The BF32 is not very loud but there are several alternatives from Visaton. Also the Aurasound NSW2 and Peerless P830970.
The Peerless is already a bit too large, the Aurosound might fit. The efficiency of the BF32 would not be a problem, because I want to do a active setup.
The efficiency becomes a problem once the driver goes intro compression or later hits mechanical limits.

I will test the BF32 and see how it performs. But there is still lots of work to do until I can really test drivers. The tweeter housing is not even designed yet...


What about the Vifa OX20SC00-04 tweeter? With a 24db crossover it should be possible to use it down to 1.5kHz. What do you think?
The problem is the high Fs. The response rolls off at 1100Hz. That roll-off and the filter slope combined will give you phase issues in the cross-over. Also, I would assume that distortion goes up.

I think I'm gonna do some tests with some small fullrange drivers to see how they perform. Still haven't finished the design of the tweeter housing :-(
