Hello, I'm new here and looking for help with a new problem I'm having with my subwoofer amplifier:
The amp is a 500W OAudio BASH and lately I am hearing a fairly loud white noise coming through the sub.
The noise exists regardless of whether or not the input line is connected to the amp.
The white noise sound is higher in pitch than what I usually hear from the sub - my ears can easily pin-point the location of the noise. The white noise is not effected by the gain knob - the volume level does not change. However if I twist the gain up all the way I can start to hear some more low frequency noise.
At one time I heard some cracking / popping sound coming from the subwoofer, so I shut down the amp.
I am a noob with electronics, but have done some small electronic repairs before (swap out resistors, re-solder joints..). I'm hoping the description of the problem might help some of you direct me towards some trouble shooting.
Thanks in advance!

I tried my hand at a little trouble shooting last night and wasn't able to find any obvious issues (was looking for leaking caps, and anything that looked burned or damaged in any way).
However I do have some new observations that might help:
1) The white noise through the sub is still there...sometimes. If I cycle the on-off switch a few times, eventually the white noise will go away. Cycle the switch some more and the noise may come back.
2) Other than the white noise, there is no other sound coming from the sub. I can't even get the sub to make the loud buzzing sound you get when plugging in / pulling out the signal line.
3) After I took the plate amp off the sub and had a better view of the electronics, I noticed a high pitch squeal coming from a large capacitor on the power board. I don't see any evidence of leaking, but I've been told a squealing capacitor could be an indicator it is about to fail or has failed. I'm going to try to test it tonight to see if there is continuity through the capacitor, and if it is holding a voltage.
