Hello, I have a Egnater Rebel 30 amp which is giving me a random loud pop which has some echo to it as well. So to best describe it sound exactly like a gunshot.
I have seen similar problems switching from standby not turning down the volume Ect.. but this is different. If the Amp is being played it happens randomly, Also if the amp is in sitting standby with no instrument attached and all the volume levels turned down it also does it then.
My assumption is that it is in the high voltage section since in standby this is the only place the noise can orginate mabey a leaky cap or a component arcing somewhere.
Any help with this would be greatly appreciated. I dont have a schematic and the Mfg does not provide to end users. only to service centers.
Thanks Todd

I think i had this problem, turned out to be the bias voltage kept cutting in and out, (loose connection) if theres sound coming from the speaker when the amp is in standby it may be the switch thats arcing. it may be an idea to put a diode after the standby switch. I dont suppose you managed to get hold of a schematic did you?

I got a simular problem with a tube amp I built and never figured out the problem , Luckilly it only happens once every 2 hours or so ....... The first time it happened I thought that one of the PSU caps exploded and was nearly as loud as a gun shot ......
Scared the living crap out of me .......

could well be that, i know one of the caps in mine had recently exploded, though i never got anything from the explosion itself, may have exploded in standby...
