Hi
I'm searching parts for my future amp - probably some kind of leach superamp mutation - yappp - output transistors. I've been comparing parameters of many of them and I'm confused - why there are so many types
Does it make audible difference if I use different transistors but with comparable parameters
?
So I'm going to use this selection:
- VCE or second breakdown voltage at least two times grater than suplay voltage
- Ic let say 15A or more
- power dissipation 200W or more
I think that it is OK, isn't it?
I'm bit afraid about 500pF capacitance of high power transistors - I'm going to use BJT. Would it be better if I used several paraller transistors with less power but also with less capaticance
?
I found that MJL21193 from OnSemi (and its complementary) available as a samples 😀 meet my expectations.

I'm not familiar with the leach amp, but I know the MJL21193/4
are very decent transistors.
Can you post a schematic of your mutation? This could help a lot.
Perform a search on this forum; it also will reveal a lot of help.
Anyway, your thread is on top again.
Leach specialist will help you soon.
