I am getting appalled by recent developments in US internet privacy (or non-privacy) policy.
ISPs now officially can sell all available user data to third parties. They were doing this for quite some time behind the scenes but now it is official. What makes me unhappy is that I pay $50 per month to my internet service provider and I have ZERO say about the privacy of my data.
The topic was discussed today on National Public Radio and invited experts recommend either TOR or non-USA based VPN. That gives you a sense of desperation with internet privacy in US.
My idea is to get VPN which has reasonable privacy policy. My main goal is to deprive my ISP extra revenue. And since I will pay for VPN why not get the real thing with strong privacy protection. Internet search gives some interesting options but I would like very much to get your input and recommendations.
Here are my objectives and questions:
1. I am not looking for free VPN and willing to pay up to $15-20 per month
2. Sweden and Finland were recommended as best countries for VPN jurisdiction because the login is illegal there. Is that true? or should I consider other countries?
3. It would be great if they provide email service as well.
4. I will not be streaming video through VPN but reasonable speed is essential (similar to what I am getting from my current ISP)

Just wanted to post here what I finally ended up with:
1. as for the VPN, I went to ivpn.net ($100/year)
2. I also switched from gmail to fastmail.com ($100/year for two people)
3. most importantly on my main computer I replaced Win10 with linux ($25 donation to Ubuntu)
so far I am Ok with what I have.
It is like old sci-fi utopia stories where you need to pay a lot for relative privacy 🙁

If it's not too late try NordVpn. They have servers in most countries. If you are extra cautious, they also have double VPN servers, they have a few fast servers for streaming, you can have 6 devices on 1 account, they have no bandwidth limit, they don't keep logs and they are very low cost. I recently signed up for 2 years at $3 A month.
