Give a man a fish and he'll eat for one meal -- teach a man to fish and he'll eat for a lifetime. People won't do everything for you all the time.

It's all about search engines.

Typing the part number (78-8097-3693-3) into Yahoo, I found a supplier for a Lens Triplet from a 3M 9800 OHP -- they were MB Electronics (http://www.mbelectronics.com)

I used an order/quote inquiry form on their website and punched in the part number and description.

I got an email back about 20 minutes later with a price ($86.93 + shipping) and quote number. If I was in more of a hurry, I could have called their 800 number (800-872-9456) and probably gotten the same quote in a few minutes.

In my case, I love doing research on the Internet and I think I'm particularly good at it, sometimes it's tedious and sometimes it's not, but it doesn't hurt to do a little of your own legwork. I'm not trying to be condescending, but in the time it took you to post your two messages, you could have gotten the answers for yourself and posted it to the board.

Who tell I didn't search?!

searched on google with the same #.. giving me 3 site wow!

I'm looking for ********* lens for 2 weeks now on ebay, newspaper, yellowpage, google, etc etc, found nothing!

So don't say that I don't search!

diyLabs has them for $34.99 each
This question has been answered many times in the forum please search before posting.

If anyone hates reposting, its me, but i think this thread is perfectly legit. There is only really one place to buy a projection lens, and thats from alan at diylabs. He is way overpriced though. So, I would love to see other ways of obtaining a projection lens cheaply.

Sorry, its just not my day

I was simply requesting that because I'm tired of searching for projection lens and having only the Alan's one.

It allway give me projection system, or glasses, everything except projection lens 🙁

Same thing for the condenser lens, can find one..

using internet

I've used internet since college (since 18 years old), that's even before Netscape time. We use Sun worstation at UC Berkeley, extensive use of Unix.
Information exchange was crucial to our life at the point. Google, Yahoo, Excite, Alta Vista, etc. I've used all search engines.
But the best way to learn, is still by asking questions. Had I rely on search engines alone, I wouldn't be able to get valuable information from people who actually experienced the product themselves.

Verbose -- if you consider a $35 triplet overpriced, then what is the $87 triplet for a 9800?

Gui -- sorry if I jumped to conclusions with your posting, I apologize. I don't think there was anything wrong with this particular thread, I just took your response the wrong way. Like Verbose, I was tired of seeing multiple postings asking the same question when searching the forum could have answered it. When I run out of steam scouring the Internet, I post questions too, so I should've known better.

Parts places who sell replacement parts for old "stuff" are always dramaticaly overpriced. A small plastic part i needed for my ai-1000 ohp was $15! When you compair there prices, diy labs is a good deal, but hey, whos to say there isn't a surpluss shop out there who has a boat load of triplet lenses cheap 😉 !
