Hello , I spent some time trying to check fr responses on different locations
Because my music subs are too heavy , I used my home theater sub in different locations . I also put a draw of my basement .
the only place that seams to have a better response and the place could be accept by my wife is behind the couch on the center of the room.
I also went to a company here in montreal specialized on acoustic treatment ,
they recommend some bass traps on the corners where I have my music subs now. and at least 400 bucks for the basic apparatus .
what you guys think about the measurements?
Thanks in advance.
Ouch 😀
Your room look like a horn

IMHO you shoud build and try some DIY bass traps like this one :

Bass traps are a great idea. check out GIK acoustics, espessially the soffit traps to compare prices. bass traps are the enabling technology for room eq. they woill give you more placement options. 4 soffit traps and six wall panels will do wonders for that room.
ftom an fr perspective, you are correct. from a time domain, that hf which looks like the ends of a brush would imply to me there are too mamy reflections happening too soon. i would treat that first, before bothering to consider the eq.
It would make a lot more sense to me to look at the IR and STEP to figure out the time domain behavior. That would also give clues about the need for room treatments and where to place them.
If you really want to know what the timing behavior is at the listening spot, run the demo version of APL_TDA. That will show how you're doing.
Hello Guys.
This morning I decided to try another thing.
I have a p101 amp with a klipsch floor stand in my upstairs living room that sounds very pleasant so decided to check how different was the fr from the basement .
After some measurements that I'm getting a very similar response on the basement , I also did some eq on the basement system. but there is still a big dip at 87hz .
Please checkout the attachment. ( the green is the basement, blue is the klipsch upstairs )
What you guys think?
Thanks

Absolutely. my comments were made assuming that data was lacking and could only be inferred.

I will try improve my system with no acoustic treatment for now.
after some eq and level adjustments the system is sounding much better.
I'd love to get rid of the dip on 90hz. but looks like those dips are very hard to get rid of ... without a massive acoustic treatment.
Thanks
90 hz is easy and does not take massive treatment. the problem is eq cant do it alone. you need at least 1 trap, maybe at least 2, 2hich will enable the eq to work.
Do this. sit 1 foot from your speakers and listen. pay attention to all the detail. now move to your normal listening location. all the detail which is lost is due to the room.
Best,
Erik

I was listening in headphones and comparing to my basement system.
I will try these approach after. thanks
Sure. since you are using horns you may have lots less problems than those of us without horns. let me know what you hear.

Erik
