I have been searching for some small full range speakers (as in a driver around 2" (55mm) in dia.) that could handle a load of around 10 watts. I haven't been able to locate a source for these... I suspect there is something out there, but so far I'm stuck. I tried searching the forum before posting.
Anyone have any data or advice for me?

You suggestion may well suit better, though.
I'm sure just about any of the large electronics dealers will have a range of OEM drivers that should fit your bill. Certainly Farnell in the UK do, so their partner company Newark over your side of the pond should do so, and I'm sure there are others.

What is the best indicator of speaker efficiency? I have some 4" speakers that I pulled out of a Yahama AA5 and much 'louder' than a pair of similar sized 'PowerBased' car audio speakers when used with a little T-AMP (Sonic Impact). I have seen dB/Watt @ one meter as an indicator. What is really good number then? I can't find any data on the speakers from the AA5 or I'd try to locate a spec sheet.

the usual indicator of efficiency is the quoted dB/W.
Though strictly speaking this is actually dB/2.83V, consequently
low impedance drivers have better dB/W figures than higher
impedance drivers without actually being more efficient.
Also note high efficiency usually means low excursion capabilty,
so on its own its not a good inidicator of a drivers "worth".
