Got the ich to build !

Looking for suggestions for line arrays for both HT and Music.

I`ve never built line arrays, but there always has to be a first time.

My intial thoughts are to mount them on the wall on both sides of the screen. I would go down 10 inches below the screen height. The 10 inches below the screen would also be used for the center channel.

This gives me a total height of 67'' to work with.

I would not to be wider then 12'' and keep the depth to a kept to minimum.

I would like a munimum low of 70 HZ

Anyone have any suggestions, of it will work, and of drivers?

Here's a pic to help

The left side definitely. You want the audio center to be close to the video center, plus it looks worlds better. What are those circles in the center beneath your screen? If that's a center channel, forget it with arrays for mains, the image size just won't match. Try it first with just the arrays and a phantom center. I prefer it much more that way and you'll get an overall sound size that matches your video better. With big images, center channels always sound to low or too high unless you go with the BS cloth screens.

Also, power tapering hasn't been mentioned. It's probably something you need to be able to at least do later, so leave the back removeable at least until you get everything dialed in properly. Arrays can often present an unrealistically large audio image without power tapering and it depends on the voice for how much it can be skewed. eg Without power tapering someone like Barry White sounds like they have a head that is 4ft in diameter.

Thanks for your imput.

The center is gone.

The right side has been replaced with an other option.
The lines outside the speakers are from the top down.
6 feet
1 meter listening height.
2 feet.
On the inside of the screen we have 4 feet center of the room.

The tweeter line has been moved to be within sitting and standing height.
The woofer line is centered to the room, this gives me more room for volume of the sub.
As far as tapering the woofers, at what height do I target center, 1 meter ?

It's just a matter of looks now, so that's up to you. my 2 cents is I like the right better.

Now for another monkey wrench. If you think a pair of 10" subs are going to keep up with line arrays, you are in for a big surprize. It really depends what you want for HT. Your arrays will be impressive and just coasting along, but 10's are going to struggle putting out any real LF content.

why is the right one's drivers mounted higher??? that will throw everything off

Here is my preference:

* More tweeters per tower, I used ten PT2 it's awesome and I
wired them for either 0.8 ohms for max SPL, toggle a switch
and it changes the wiring to 3.2 ohm just in case I need that option of higher impedance.

* I prefer the tweeters on the outside edge meaning the midwoofers are near the TV side.

* I prefer the midwoofer line to be ~ the same size as the tweeter line.

* I prefer to use even number of drivers for hassle free wiring
options.

* I prefer the subwoofer to be a seperate box and not integrated into the main towers because you have option to move it around later if something doesn't sound right.

* I prefer even feed tapering and low impedance to get maximum
punishment.

Why build an array if you play it at reduced levels? /hehehe
That's no fun :devilr: :clown: :smash:
