Hello,
I have made a sound system that worked perfectly on Roskilde festival, but I could use a better subwoofer that uses less power for more or the same output. I have measured to get about 150 watt rms with the subwoofer, and have measured about 115-120db output.
Right now I have a cheap car sub, that are driving 2 x 2 ohm in bridged mode (I know that you should never use bridging with 2 ohm, but we are only using a +/- 12-13 volt supply (2 car batteries)), but I'm more looking for a like 4 x 4 ohm that gives a good output with the same amount of power.
By the way, it must be 10" and we have a 50 liter enclosure.
If you have some good suggestion please tell me and give a link to where I can buy it (Must not be to expensive).
Thanks a lot,
Simon H.A.

Well, I read in another forum that this car sub worked best in 50liter sealed enclosure, but I'm willing to change it to a ported enclosure or what else is needed for a new subwoofer to perform good.

For outdoor I doubt "hifi" sub driven by low power will be any good at all
Maybe better use a good woofer
Maybe even use a cheap one with small magnet for highish Q value, with some peaking around 50hz
12" VXT124 Ravemaster, 95db, from hoejtalerbutikken seem to fit your needs, 53EUR

Yes you are right,
It has never been hifi bass sound but my problem is, that I think I get to little sound out of the woofer, so I would like to replace it with a better, but I don't really know what I should buy.
The major problem is, that the mid and tweeters can play louder (it's actually hifi sound, I measured with oscilloscope), so they deafen the bass to much at max volume.
I have a few parametres of the subwoofer, and my box is a 50 liter sealed enclosure, so maybe I could also get more output just by changing the enclose?
QTS = 0,52
VAS = 25,57
FS = 36

SPL is missing in your specs
Take a look at the Ravemaster
One problem with your car woofer could be that its made to be driven with a lot of power, and to work in a small room like a car
Even if has high mms and should have low Fs, its has not due to very stiff surround, which will need lots of power
And the high mms results in low SPL

It's a china sub, so can't find anymore specs.
Is this the one you are talking about?
Ravemaster subwoofer

Thats looks like a pretty good one.
But in what type of enclosure does it perform best?
Sealed or ported?
I heard that when the QTS is higher than 0,5 it is best in sealed, and when under 0,3 or something its best for ported. So what about this one?

by the way, I can actually have a 15" subwoofer in my sound system cabinet, so maybe this is a choice, and with double coil I can get more power: 15" ravemaster

Both the 12" and 15" seem to be ok in about 50liter closed
With a pretty 60hz 3db peak for the 15" in 50liter😀 but only 1db peak for the 12"
So yes, the 15" will give a better outdoor thump in 50-80liter closed box, and better sensitivity

Thanks for all your help,
I'm confident that this sub will give me a much better output and with lesser power needed.
And I think you are right with my china sub.
It's rated for 1200 watt rms, so I think as you said, it needs much more power before it gives a lot of spl, so small amplifiers wont do the job.
