Looking for crossover for Satori 3 Way build

Hello. I Thought in a project at the begining of this year with SB Acoustic drivers. I wanted a 3 way floorstander with the following config:

Tweeter: SB29SDAC-C000-4
Midrange: SATORI MW16P-8
Woofer: SATORI WO24P-8

I thought in a active system although I have changed my mind and would go for passive... or selling the drivers because I do not have much time not space for this nice project.

Does any one of you has any suitable crossover suggestion for this config?

Thank you

the MR midrange will sound better than the MW mid-woofer but only if you cross it over higher. I have both; even with a 2nd order HP at 200 Hz; the MR has too much distortion compared to the MW. If you do a 2nd order HP on the MR at 300 to 400 Hz; it will have a very musical quality that is hard to beat.

Hello again.
Life is moving and this is an "insane" hobby.
I have recovered the stuff I had sold and I'm back again with this project.

I have made this first simulation, but it looks impedace is very high from 500Hz (woofer/mid crossover point).

Box will be very similar to Troels Gravesen SBA 941 design.
600 H x 310 W x 350 D
Roughly 45 liters for woofer.

What do you think about?
Attached you will find the Xsim file to play with

High impedance is usually no problem. That high impedance is particularly caused by the 6.8 Ohm series resistor in series with the mid. Do you really need that much attenuation for the mid? I bet, that R5 can easily heats up when volume is cranked.

Raelman - Response looks good. Nice simulation.

Since you are crossing the 160 mm driver at about 3.8 kHz, I suspect you will be getting some beaming in that region. That driver will be dispersing widely up to about 2k, then it will start to narrow. Then at 3.8 k the 29 mm dome takes over and the dispersion will be very wide again.

Have you tried any simulations where the crossover from MW16 to SB29 is a bit lower? Like 2.5 k? I suspect a lower crossover will have a more smoother off-axis response (horizontal off-axis response).

Thanks to all for your help and tips.
Hifijim, I’m going to try a lower crossover point too.
I’m in the preliminary stage doing simulations and will order parts to try.
Let’s see if I can find a lower crossover point.
The fact is that I’m in doubt I’d stick to the sb29sdac or try the satori tweeter.
Again: any help or tip will be very welcome.

I think there is something wrong with the impedance file for the SB29SDAC driver. looking at filename=SB29SDAC.zma I see a maximum impedance of 161.809 Ohm at 612.866 Hz. The SBA website shows the max impedance should be around 11 Ohm at that same frequency.

I traced it again. It is different but it is still difficult to work with. Maybe you could try a notch filter instead of the parallel resistor (you can still use a parallel resistor as part of an L-pad if you want the impedance to stay lower).
