Looking for answers with Revel Ultima Studio

I am considering purchasing a set of Revels. The Ultimate Studio. Not the 2 version. Anybody have a pair out there?? Was listening to them in a dedicated showroom that was set up for listening. The speakers were on the short wall shooting down the length. Room was about12' wide by 18 long. I heard and also measured with FFT on phone a huge suckout at 40-50 hz. This was straddled by big peaks at 60hz and 30hz. Just wondering if anyone has in home measurements on this speaker? Saw a Stereophile review that show a shallow suckout at the same frequency about 2-3db. What I was measuring was about 20db!!

I don't own any revel speakers but you probably measured room modes and effects, the stereophile review is probably very accurate, also no way your phone is any accurate for making measurements to draw such conclusions from. Regarding if it would be a good speaker to buy I would strongly consider if there are not newer or better speakers for that price, but that also depends what you want out of a speaker...

Well I agree that my test with phone isnt absolutely accurate but it does have calibration curves for the internal microphone that get loaded. I have used it many times and is useful. The point is I measured and heard an issue and it correlates with the same band of frequencies from stereophile. I tend to believe it is mostly room. My space is completely different and is wide open no close boundaries. This setup was sidewalls about 2-3 ft away from both speakers. Is there any standing wave calculators out there to model setup. BTW no subs. IMHO more problems than they are worth.
